At my agent’s request, I’ll be writing Dead Horse for National Novel Writing Month. Well, actually, she didn’t suggest I write it for NaNoWriMo specifically — just that I get my rear in gear and write it, period. So I’ll use NaNoWriMo to kick-start my efforts in that direction….
Personal tragedy sends Mazarin Saint-Cloud into the arms of the Cislunar Royal Navy, where he accepts a billet as ship’s sorcerer on The Promise. In the Cappadocian Isles, he learns of his family’s dark heritage and is offered a blasphemous pact with an ancient, otherworldly being. Later, captured and tortured by pirates, he embraces the pact and risks the loss of his own humanity as he faces the alien, monstrous Pale Ship that preys upon the southern seas.

Alas, working on DH means that CH3 will be set aside for the moment. That’s OK, though; it gives me more time to think through the plot. I’m torn between two directions for the novel right now; one would wrap up the series as a trilogy and the other would (gulp) open up a CH4!
