National Novel Writing Month — Whew!

Well, I managed to finish the NaNoWriMo challenge, although of course the novel itself isn’t finished. In fact, I’ve just gotten to the first major ship-to-very-unnatural-ship battle scene that will begin the cascade of terrible events leading up to the climax of the story….
However, it’s time to take a little writing rest — I want to have lunch with a friend today and then read a few novels before I buckle back down to finishing up the first draft of Dead Horse and then starting the grueling rewrite-and-polish process. Well, and of course I also need to grade all those film theory papers I’ve been putting off in my push to finish this up … sorry, students … I promise they’ll be done sometime tomorrow evening….!
